This is our culture and our habits, our society is designed and built in a certain way, our industry oriented to our tastes.

But there is surely money to be made swinging our society in a new direction. It doesn't have to be scientists and responsive government against business (unless, of course, business stakes out a territory where change is bad and politicized and something to be resisted).

So I don't feel so bad at a fella who feels he needs a pickup truck, even if I've had to cede this option--though I think we need to move away from this thinking. But I hate the oil and gas lobby (i.e. Koch Brothers) who spend millions in our political process to muddy the waters and to smear those who are trying to find a way out of this dilemma.wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-83190337888122411142012-07-06T12:29:30.632-05:002012-07-06T12:29:30.632-05:00Your view from the cockpit reminds me of my view o...Your view from the cockpit reminds me of my view of the VLS (Vermont Law School) parking lot. It's the number one program for environmental law in the country and has been #1 or #2 for years. My first year there, when I finished classes and went to get into my vehicle to go home, I noticed over 90% of the parking lot was filled with fossil fuel burning, gas guzzling SUVs. To be fair, a lot of them were 4 wheel drive vehicles to get into and out of the mountains to get to the law school, and a number of law students attended VLS to end up working for big oil, coal, and other polluters. But there were still mostly tree-huggers attending that law school, but you wouldn't know it to look at the vehicles.VVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08751403913379728345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-88219475392754311332012-07-06T12:29:21.226-05:002012-07-06T12:29:21.226-05:00wunelle said: On the contrary, it seems we're ...wunelle said: On the contrary, it seems we're perhaps catastrophically slow to respond to the obvious.

Oh, there is no 'perhaps' about it I'm afraid....CyberKittenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06394155516712665665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-55586713096159500052012-07-06T01:04:03.992-05:002012-07-06T01:04:03.992-05:00The ones that I view to be most detestable are tho...The ones that I view to be most detestable are those people that are either smart enough or rich enough to have smart people around them ... and thus are privy to what is really happening ... and yet ignore it or twist it for their own personal gain. They surely know that the profit they make now is at the cost of the generations after them, even their own children.dbackdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700991588554336491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-36961541942049093932012-07-05T23:03:42.434-05:002012-07-05T23:03:42.434-05:00Well stated, good sir!Well stated, good sir!payingattentionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02459253960788899702noreply@blogger.com
