I really liked the first half (of the book) and *really* disliked the second half!CyberKittenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06394155516712665665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-68467969326915984002013-03-11T00:26:13.206-05:002013-03-11T00:26:13.206-05:00I have read the book and will see the film shortly...I have read the book and will see the film shortly. Life of Pi's obvious religious overtones did not turn me off as much as they did in The Lovely Bones. I don't mind religion as a thematic device ... I just don't want it to be preachy. Pi's faith is pivotal but as I have heard the screenwriter say, it doesn't necessarily have to represent religious faith. It can be whatever it is that gives one hope in a hopeless situation.

Obviously, since I've read the book, I know what the twist is. But, I'm looking forward to seeing how Lee pulls it off. I'm a huge fan of Ang Lee and was very happy to see him win the directing Oscar.

Nice review, as always.dbackdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700991588554336491noreply@blogger.com
