I think she doesn't have a love of the guy as I do, so maybe the rest of it is just turmoil. Then again, she watches Private Practice, which is ALL turmoil and to no end whatsoever. At least Lincoln for his turmoil saved the union and played a part in ridding the country of slavery. Take THAT, Private Practice! ;-)wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-13937247476274912992012-12-08T00:16:34.972-06:002012-12-08T00:16:34.972-06:00I loved the movie. I would have been more surprised if my wife and I agreed on a movie.

The political nuance and banter was a joy for me. As Bil said, the casting in all the roles was impeccable. Daniel Day Lewis is simply a treasure in anything he does and it will be difficult to think of Lincoln in the future without picturing this performance.dbackdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700991588554336491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-83126201622986119212012-12-07T06:07:41.981-06:002012-12-07T06:07:41.981-06:00"I think she just has a shortened attention s..."I think she just has a shortened attention span due to modern gadgets."

Ha! I read this comment in spurts between checking Facebook and Twitter ;-)

I think "speechy" is a good descriptor for movies that I like. It's why I am drawn to stories about the law and legal matters: so much of this is verbal in nature.

I also had no interest in history whatsoever until after high school. I was aware as I began to read history that if a teacher had ASSIGNED the book I would have had trouble getting through it. But I eventually found my own way there. Still, being given class credit for seeing a movie has to beat being assigned a couple hundred pages of reading on the same material, no? (Well, maybe not!)wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-43011342657781077032012-12-07T01:57:38.393-06:002012-12-07T01:57:38.393-06:00My 17-year-old daughter was allowed to see this mo...My 17-year-old daughter was allowed to see this movie as extra credit for her AP US History class. She asked me to pay for the ticket since it was sort of a school function. I did, and even then she felt like it wasn't worth it. She considered it a couple of hours of her childhood that she'll never get back. I think that for the most part history is of very little interest until one has lived enough to have some appreciation for what they are learning. I know I had no interest in most history until I was long out of school.

I expect that when I get to finally see this movie I will find it very interesting. I'll just have to ask my daughter to buy my ticket to get me out of the house for a while ;-)Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13860812772132171202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-396421225287037612012-12-06T22:08:59.006-06:002012-12-06T22:08:59.006-06:00I enjoyed this movie. I actually paid more attention to the sets, clothing and the buildings than normal and I think that it couldnt have been more on target. Also, if I were to have ever met Lincoln, I think that it would have been the man we saw on the screen! I wouldnt mind seeing it again to be able to take everything in.Jonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-15641312830221073212012-12-06T16:21:43.989-06:002012-12-06T16:21:43.989-06:00Let us know if you see it!Let us know if you see it!wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-80411305278387784432012-12-06T16:14:00.961-06:002012-12-06T16:14:00.961-06:00I was in two minds about seeing this film..
