It's sometimes hard to identify with uniquely New York situations when I've never lived there.dbackdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700991588554336491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-37683899907024977632012-07-14T14:55:06.572-05:002012-07-14T14:55:06.572-05:00I'm like you in that Woody somehow seems like ...I'm like you in that Woody somehow seems like filmdom's vegetable: something any sane person ought to like. And I DO like many of his films, but his output is quite disproportionate to my affection for it. I'm happy for that to be my problem, but I'd much rather sit down to a Coen Brothers flick.wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-12615992123523906902012-07-12T01:07:59.334-05:002012-07-12T01:07:59.334-05:00I feel I should like Woody Allen. I've enjoyed the movies I've watched, but I'm sure I've only seen a third of them.

I've always been more partial to the gritty and stylized urbanism of Spike Lee or the violent realism of Scorcese, both directors with a similar sense of their environment as Allen.dbackdadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10700991588554336491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-60854997802494619582012-07-10T19:00:45.573-05:002012-07-10T19:00:45.573-05:00Interesting. I haven't thought much about all this, though certainly his married / family life has always been an oddity.

My impression was that Sun-Yi (or whatever her name is) came late to the Farrow household and that she has been an enthusiastic partner in the marriage. Not that makes any of it true.

I suppose many celebrities whose work we admire lead less-than-admirable lives.wstachourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12447198404608861357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15935045.post-27576951612443523512012-07-10T18:53:47.053-05:002012-07-10T18:53:47.053-05:00I cannot get past him marrying his step-daughter a...I cannot get past him marrying his step-daughter and so don't see his movies. It's weird, there are a lot of people out there in the entertainment industry whose lives and choices I don't agree with, but I don't boycott their movies or shows, for some reason I can't get past this with Woody Alken.VVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08751403913379728345noreply@blogger.com
